The Miami Valley is embracing an upcoming national day of celebration that's meant to inspire future generations of entrepreneurs.
Saturday, July 29 has been declared the official Lemonade Day in the cities of Centerville, Dayton, Kettering, Middletown and Springboro. The occasion helps to introduce elementary and middle school age children to entrepreneurship and provides them with the opportunity to run a real business and make their own money, according to organizers.
Local organizers from River Valley Credit Union are providing the program free to all Miami Valley children.
"Lemonade Day is an experiential, educational program," the credit union said in a release. "Registered youth will receive free educational materials with 21 cartoon-based video lessons on setting a goal, making a budget, finding investors, marketing their business, and ultimately creating a complete business plan for their first business ... a lemonade stand."

During the local day on July 29, children will be able to set up their lemonade stand businesses and make an average of $224 in one day. Nationally, some youth bring in $500 to $1,000.
"Our mission is to help today’s youth become the business leaders, social advocates, community volunteers and forward-thinking citizens of tomorrow ... one lemonade stand at a time," the organizing website says.
National Lemonade Day is held on Aug. 20.
Registration for Lemonade Day Miami Valley is currently open and free to all in the Miami Valley at www.lemonadeday.org/miami-valley.
