An Israeli-based technology company with manufacturing operations in Dayton is witnessing its first rollout of an industry changing technology. The innovation sets a new global standard for drone fleet docking and charging by producing the only universal and fully autonomous drone docking station in the world.

A little over a year ago, Israeli-based StrixDrones announced the opening of its U.S. manufacturing facility in Dayton to produce the technology company’s ground-breaking drone docking station, DroneDock - the first-ever drone airport powered by a highly advanced patented smart system.

Now, the first units of the Strix2100 are rolling off the assembly line to fulfill an initial order from Spright, the drone solution division of Air Methods Corporation – responsible for building the only bi-directional, drone-based, healthcare-specific delivery network across the U.S. and beyond.

During its first year of operation, StrixDrones’ Washington Township manufacturing facility hired two highly skilled assembly line technicians and subcontracted with local material suppliers in Dayton, such as RAM Precision Industries and NCT Technologies Group, to build the units and establish an infrastructure to meet global demand for the Strix DroneDock.

Unlike other docking systems, the customizable DroneDock, developed by an in-house research and development lab, is the only one with a universal, modular-designed landing pad so that any drone from any manufacturer can land without special adjustments.

The system is available in two sizes, Strix1600 and Strix2100 (for larger drones and eVTOL) and contains these other unique features: internal climate control, smart charging, external telemetric weather system, real time alerts, and multi-station connections.

“I knew Dayton was the ideal location for our only U.S.-based manufacturing facility and the cooperation we’ve received over the past year, especially from the Dayton Region Israel Trade Alliance (DRITA), Dayton Development Coalition, and the Entrepreneurs’ Center, supports that assumption,” said Niv Aharoni, founder and CEO, StrixDrones. “Our drone airport is a game changer in the UAS industry for commercial and defense applications, and I’m beyond proud of what we’ve accomplished here. It’s exciting to see the first units completed and ready for delivery, and this is just the beginning.”

The military-grade DroneDock, created by drone experts with civilians and military backgrounds, provides end-to-end solutions for drone operations, making drone fleets more efficient, productive, cost-effective, and profitable.

In addition to its many commercial uses, DroneDock can be deployed along borders to assist with national security and implemented during military missions. Other applications and sectors include agriculture, oil and gas, mining, sensitive infrastructure, and emergency and first responses.

Moving forward, StrixDrones has orders for many more units and anticipates hiring an additional 10 employees and continuing to contribute to the growth of Dayton’s economy and emergence as a national technology hub.
