A woman-owned Dayton logistics and drone package delivery service has moved its headquarters out of state. While the move has been strategic, the company plans to keep its office in the region.
Drone Express has moved its headquarters from 123 Webster St. in downtown Dayton to Denver, Colorado. The move is strategic for the company as the venture capital ecosystem is larger in Denver and is growing. Additionally, the company has several employees working remotely in Denver and opening an office to explore those opportunities made sense for the company’s operations. The new office will also help the company build new relationships and partnerships out west.
While the company headquarters is moving to Denver, Drone Express’ Dayton office will remain operational, with the manufacturing of drones continuing in downtown Dayton.
“It’s business as usual here – we still build our aircraft and maintain them here,” said Beth Flippo, CEO of Drone Express. “We love Dayton, and we really want to keep growing here in Dayton while being able to expand and include other areas, and it doesn’t limit our presence here in any way.”
In addition to the Denver and Dayton offices, Drone Express has recently expanded its reach to the international level with a Madrid office. With this presence, the company is positioned to take on more work on an international scale.
Drone Express is an innovative aviation company disrupting last-mile logistics by embracing autonomous flight. Founded in 2018, the company uses drones to make safe, reliable, autonomous, eco-friendly package delivery to customers across the country.
Drone Express has secured strategic nationwide corporate partnerships with Kroger, Papa Johns, Winsupply and other retailers.
At the end of 2022, the company announced a partnership with Microsoft Corp to utilize its AI to develop an advanced drone software, which would further enable safe delivery without constant human observation. In 2023, Drone Express received a $250,000 investment from out-of-state companies to help solve issues plaguing the American supply chain.
The Dayton company has also earned a limited spot in Part 135 Unmanned Domestic Air Carrier Certification program through extensive work with the FAA. Drone Express will be one of only a few companies certified to perform unmanned beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) in the United States.
