The last Office Envy feature NTX Inno did before pandemic shelter-in-place orders were put into effect was on Dallas-based coworking company WorkSuites’ opening of its Knox/Henderson area location, which is the company’s largest. So we thought it would be fitting to revisit Worksuites for the opening of its newest location in Allen.

Although delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic, WorkSuites announced plans to open its 20th location in Allen in late May, near the Watters Creek development. The new nearly 20,000 square-foot space officially opened its doors at the beginning of the month.

“On the other side of this, most people–including us–are confident that this crisis will cause an acceleration in the trend away from long-term lease commitments and toward the flexibility that coworking and flexible workspaces provide,” said CEO Flip Howard in a prepared statement.

The new space, located at 450 Century Parkway in Allen, is one designed with the Covid-19 pandemic in mind. It focuses on private offices and has safety precautions to keep visitors six feet apart in common and coworking areas. It also features virtual office space, which offers discounted access to meeting rooms and mail handling while giving businesses a permanent address.

As Worksuites has begun the process of reopening amid a global pandemic, the company is encouraging members to wear masks and reducing capacity in its conference and team rooms. It has also, removed lounge furniture in common areas, added some physical dividers in coworking areas and stepped up its cleaning measures in its locations.

“For the foreseeable future, I think individual, private offices rather than large rooms packed with coworking desks are a no-brainer,” Howard said. “When I told my son how the current crisis was hurting our business he replied: ‘Really?  I would think a business that sold a bunch of individual rooms would be the best business in America right now.'”

WorkSuites was founded in 2001. However, until 2018, the company operated under the name Meridian Business Centers, until it expanded beyond the North Texas market into Houston. Overall, the company operates 21 locations across the two regions, with a planned coworking space in Southlake set to open this fall.

Like nearly all coworking spaces, Worksuites’ prices are based on a tiered structure. Its locations feature amenities like a coffee lounge, café, and fitness center, as well as the latest IT infrastructure.
