Frisco-based Gearbox Entertainment Company has acquired Frisco-based 3D technology company Capture Dimensions, according to a news release.

Capture Dimension CEO Jordan Williams will continue as its head but report directly to Randy Pitchford, president and founder of Gearbox.

"This acquisition brings incredible technology into the fold for future projects and enables further expansion of offerings to strategic partners across multiple business units," Sean Haran, chief business officer of Gearbox, said in the release.

Captured Dimensions specializes in 3D capture, scanning and reconstruction services. The company has worked on films from 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, Netflix and Sony Pictures and games from 2K Games and Electronic Arts.

"This merger gives us an incredible runway for growth and opportunity," Williams said in the release. "We're excited to work hand-in-hand with some of the most talented developers around the world and continue providing our best-in-class services to our current clients and new partners."

Founded in 1999, Gearbox Entertainment Company is a creator and distributor of successful game franchises Borderlands, Brothers in Arms and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. The company operates under four subsidiaries: Gearbox Software, Gearbox Publishing, Gearbox Studio and Gearbox Properties.

In February 2021, Gearbox was acquired by Swedish video game developer Embracer Group in a $1.3 billion deal.
