Dallas agricultural company Eden Green Technology has announced the opening of a new 2-acre vertical greenhouse in Cleburne and a 3-acre facility, according to a news release. The new facilities serve as phase one of the company's expansion plan.

Completed in less than 12 months, the facility produces 1.8 million pounds of produce annually in 62,500 square feet of grow space. The facility is built along an existing 40,000-square-foot pilot facility.

The new greenhouse will allow producers, retailers and suppliers to increase agricultural offerings, including white label and private label produce.

"The demand for locally-grown healthy produce is at an all-time high," Eddy Badrina, CEO of Eden Green, said in the release. "The last few years have seen tremendous investment in the industry at large and in Texas specifically."

Phase two will include a $31 million expansion plan with an additional 125,000 square feet of grow space and employ an additional 50 workers. The phase will triple total production to over five million pounds a year.

"As we continue to develop partnerships across the country, we will remain focused on acting as responsible stewards not only to our investors, but our communities and the environment," Badrina said in the release.

In addition to the expansion plan, Eden Green has added Matt Hemsley to its board of directors. Hemsley serves as CEO of Minneapolis-based Piper Heartland Healthcare Capital.

Eden Green Technology was founded in 2017.
