Dallas-based sports tech company Cerebro Sports is expanding its operations with Mark Cuban investment, the company announced in a news release last week.
The company said the endorsement from Cuban is the latest milestone for the player talent analytics platform, which has signed agreements with various collegiate and NBA teams, including sports talent agencies.
“I’m excited to see how far Cerebro can take (its) analytics to help NBA teams improve our ability to forecast how good players can be,” Cuban said in the release.
According to the release, Cerebro aims to expand recruiting by making analytics and data accessible to decision-makers and players. Using the platform, scouts and coaches can evaluate performances from games, tournaments and showcases, from high school to professional organizations.
“There is an opportunity to tell a full, objective story of player performance in the basketball industry that replaces hype with data-driven analytics. Today, most recruiting and scouting processes require the eye test and, while certainly meaningful and a necessary aspect of recruitment that is very difficult to scale,” Ryan Girardot, CEO and co-founder of Cerebro, said in the release. “There is a myriad of data to sort through, so we have built our tools to create scalable and objective analysis.”
“Basketball is just the beginning for Cerebro Sports,” Rohan Dang, VP of strategy and co-founder of Cerebro, said in the release. “The future is bright for the SportsTech industry, and long-term, we hope to offer our platform as a solution for athletes and parents, scouts, agents, recruiters, college coaches, professional teams, and fans across all sports. We believe every game should count.”
