Biotech firm Nanoscope Therapeutics Inc. announced today that it is moving its headquarters from Bedford to Trinity Towers in Dallas, according to a news release.

“Moving to Trinity Towers places us in the heart of the growing health care community in Dallas,” Nanoscope co-founder and CEO Sulagna Bhattacharya said in the release. “Rapid growth is expected for Nanoscope in 2023 and Trinity Towers provides an excellent space for our expanding team to collaborate.”

Nanoscope is developing gene therapies for retinal degenerative diseases. The move to Trinity Towers puts the company in the heart of the Dallas Medical District.

It currently has MCO-010, which is an optogenetic therapy delivered as a one-time intravitreal eye injection. According to the release, the therapy “uses proprietary vector and promoter technology to deliver the MCO transgene into retinal bipolar cells. These retinal cells become light sensitive, potentially enabling vision in normal light environments.”

MCO-010 is currently being evaluated in two clinical trials in the US for treating severe vision loss due to retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and due to Stargardt disease.

In April, Bhattacharya was a Women in Technology honoree for the Dallas Business Journal. At the time, she said she spent several years in corporate finance and consulting before a family connection to inherited retinal diseases inspired me to look for potential treatments. She became excited about the therapeutic potential but “a special opportunity to build a business around the technology that could guide its growth from the research lab to the clinic.”
