Aakha Biologics moves from Pegasus Park to new HQ in Frisco

Biolabs Pegasus Park announced this week that Aakha Biologics, an inaugural tenant in the life sciences co-working space, has moved to a permanent headquarters in Frisco, according to a news release.

Biolabs launched the 37,000-square-foot Class A laboratory and office space at the Pegasus Park in Dallas earlier this year. It provides personalized services and cost-effective month-to-month leases for biotech and life science entrepreneurs.

The company said the cycle of onboarding new companies, giving them tools to become high-growth ventures and launching them to permanent locations in DFW is its core mission.

Aakha Biologics discovers and develops immuno-oncology therapeutics for patients. The company moved from Boston to have access to Biolabs services and space, and it initially used space at UT Southwestern in May 2021 before the Biolabs space opened last March.

“Our time at BioLabs Pegasus Park proved to be an ideal situation for us. We had excellent opportunities to interact with colleagues and like-minded entrepreneurs,” Hemanta Baruah, founder and CEO of Aakha Biologics, said in the release. “With the premier facility and synergies available within Pegasus Park, we moved from concept to a solid preclinical stage company in the course of one year.”

Fourteen companies are currently within BioLabs Pegasus Park, occupying 40% of the space, with about half of the tenants originating from elsewhere in the country and half from the DFW area.

“Aakha Biologic’s commitment to locate and grow in North Texas signals the region’s strong biotech commercialization potential. Operations here in North Texas are supporting promising life science startups that will change the world and benefit mankind,” BioLabs Pegasus Park’s Site Director Gabby Everett said in the release.

The Dallas facility is Boston-based BioLabs’ first location in the central United States. It is located within the 25-acre mixed-use Pegasus Park campus.
