Saltbox, a company combining co-working and warehousing, has taken down 110,000 square feet of space.

The project for the Atlanta-based co-warehousing concept is expected to bring $5.1 million in renovations to a property at 1671 S. Broadway St., according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The scope of the alterations includes demolition of the interior to open the space up; the addition of updated office space; and the addition of modular walls in the warehouse area to partition the space.

Saltbox, which landed more than $3 million in venture funding in 2019, opened its first North Texas facility in Farmers Branch last year, its second location in the country behind its debut in Atlanta. The 66,000-square-foot space in Farmers Branch had capacity for up to 90 companies and offered amenities such as internet access, conference rooms, mailing services and a photography studio as it looks to aid small businesses' infrastructure needs.

This second offering from Saltbox is substantively larger than its first in terms of overall square footage, though it's unclear how many more companies it might be able to accommodate.

Labor is expected to commence in late March on the Carrollton space with a completion date set for July, the filing dated January 18 stipulates.
