Plano-based company acquires an AR-based platform firm

Plano's service experience management company CareAR has acquired 3D visualization and AR-based platform MagicLens.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

MagicLens uses computer-design data to enable 3D content visualization and video simulations as well as high-quality renderings of models. CareAR will use AR content created by MagicLens’ technology to make a visual AR experience for industrial and physical products.

"We are laser-focused on reinventing the service experience by enabling seamless and intelligent user experiences. The ability to visualize any static image or object in action opens up a new world of possibilities," Sam Waicberg, CareAR president, said in a prepared statement. "The MagicLens acquisition further strengthens our ability to provide greater visual service and support capabilities and now extends new offerings into the marketing arena."

CareAR is an AR support platform company that offers field workers and other employees access to expertise. The company was acquired by Xerox Holdings Corporation in January 2021 and has been focused on acquiring companies that expand its toolset and capabilities.

CareAR recently purchased CraftAR, an AR-embedded image recognition business in November.

“CareAR is committed to help reinvent the service experience. The recent announcement of our innovations and acquisitions reinforce that commitment as a market leader,” Waicberg said in a previous statement. “Customer satisfaction is becoming more crucial than ever as organizations strive to differentiate themselves in the marketplace. CareAR’s continued effort to deliver game changing remote and self-solve capabilities, through our visual AR and AI powered platform, uniquely positions us to drive exceptional customer experiences and outcomes which is at the heart of what we do.”
