Local tech company Bresatech is expanding to Austin, where it sees the region’s concentration of other technology firms and state government agencies strategic to its growth.

The Plano-based digital transformation and automation solutions provider plans to open an office near Austin’s downtown, where it will be looking to grow its business, as well as its workforce.

“We’re in it, we’re investing, we’re heavily focusing on the epicenter of Texas for our business,” William Martin, president and CEO at Bresatech, told NTX Inno.

The move follows a large five-year contract Bresatech landed for a Pegasystems maintenance and enhancement project in the state of Vermont, which saw the company beat out larger competitors. Following that, the company was named a Pega Premier Consulting Partner. Matt Bomberger, senior VP of global sales and operations at Bresatech, said Pegasystems asked them to begin working on operating in Texas's public sector.

“That in and of itself was a huge institutional win for us… it helped establish and build the foundation for future investments,” Bomberger said.

As the state capitol and a booming technology hub, Austin made logical sense. Bresatech brought on Nick Maynard to lead its business development efforts there to head up its Austin efforts. Part of those efforts will focus on lobbying lawmakers, for which it has hired lobbyist consulting firms Quorum Public Affairs and Government Partners.

“I think it’s a natural shift from our roots in Dallas… I think it was natural for us to want to shift down to Austin,” Maynard said. “In order to get state agencies to really come around to new solutions… it’s a team effort. These account reps at Pega really need an entire ecosystem surrounding them, like Bresatech and some of their other partners, to really make headway inside a state agency the size of Texas.”

Bresatech’s Austin move also comes with an increased focus on its Innovation Solutions division, which focuses on helping companies with customizable digital solutions, especially in cybersecurity. And to help with the increase in business, Bresatech expects to double its about 60-person team by the end of the year.

Bresatech also provides NetSuite solutions and has those operations based out of Denver.

The company has been experiencing recent growth since its founding in 2017. While not disclosing specifics, Martin said Bresatech saw a 65 percent increase in its top-line revenue year-over-year from 2019 to 2020, and he expects that to double again this year.

“We’re going from single millions to double-digit millions,” Bomberger said.

The company’s growth also means future expansions for Bresatech. Martin said the company is looking to open up offices in northern Florida. He said it is also planning to find new office space in the Plano-Frisco area or increase the footprint of its current office in Plano.

“We’ve had just a tremendous run over the past year and a half of building out the organization from the ground up and really being able to focus on top-tier talent… to help build our organization,” Bomberger said. “It’s been a fantastic opportunity to do things the right way foundationally and from the ground floor up, and to be able to go get the best folks that are in the marketplace and build out our practices.”
