With cases of Covid-19 continuing to spike in North Texas and other parts of the country, a local company is looking to keep drivers and passengers safe from the virus as they hit the road.

Dallas-based NuVinAir Global, a company using scientific innovations to develop cleaning and sanitary products for the automotive and transportation industry, has launched a new EPA-approved and eco-friendly product that can kill viruses, germs and other bacteria on a vehicle’s interior.

“It’s always been NuVinAir’s mission, when we started… to be the authority on healthy vehicle interiors… and to really secure the auto industry,” NuVinAir founder and CEO Kyle Bailey told NTX Inno. “You have such sensitive materials in your vehicle, and with transportation picking up, you’re going to see a lot more consumers and drivers that want to be in control of their environment because of the uncertainty.”

Called ReKlenz-X, the proprietary disinfectant spray uses oxygen-infused microbubbles to kill viruses, including Covid-19, according to Bailey. NuVinAir says the new product kills viruses by destroying their cell walls, without harming the vehicle’s interior or leaving residue. The company is offering the product, through its turnkey franchise partners, to dealerships, rental car centers and companies that operate vehicle fleets. The company licenses markets to franchise partners to sell its products.

ReKlenz-X is one of only a handful of products placed on the EPA’s List N, meaning it meets the organizations criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2 – the virus that causes Covid-19. Products on the list have to show efficacy in destroying viruses “harder to kill” than Covid-19, as well as show the ability to kill other types of coronaviruses.

“Our goal is when you open the door to always have confidence in your commute,” Bailey said.

While NuVinAir’s focus, since its launch in 2013, has been on developing products to help ensure clean environments in vehicles, the launch of ReKlenz-X is part of a number of moves the company has made in recent months to help out during the pandemic. In April, the company launched the NuVinCARES program, which is helping supply its health and safety products to frontline workers and law enforcement vehicles. The company has also been donating masks to frontline workers throughout the pandemic. And, as school districts across Texas look at plans to reopen, Bailey said NuVinAir is looking to get into the school bus transportation market.

“We have a huge heart for [giving back]. As we continue to grow and as we continue to drive innovation… that’s always in the forefront of our minds - how to provide security to everybody that’s getting into that cabin space. That’s really our target and goal,” Bailey said.

Due to the pandemic, Bailey said NuVinAir has been seeing increased interest in its products, both from people interested in opening their own franchise of the brand and from those in the automotive industry, as they look to keep customers safe. The company currently has 10 franchise locations across the state and has a core team of about 20 employees. Bailey added that its franchise business has picked up by about 400% and the company is looking to expand into the entire state of Texas in the near future.

“We’re on a mission to clean every commute in Texas. I think this pandemic has accelerated the understanding that hygiene and cleanliness is super important and there’s a relevance to that, that will not go away. Times have changed forever, I truly believe that,” Bailey said. “Our goal and our mindset and our vision is really that every passenger in the world will have confidence in having a healthy commute.”
