Big Nerd Ranch, an Atlanta-based web and mobile app developer, has been acquired by projekt202, an Addison, Texas-based company that focuses on the design of mobile, web and workplace software. The announcement is part of projekt202’s expansion to the Southeast.
“With a diverse talent base in a large, vibrant market, Atlanta is an ideal expansion opportunity for us, and Big Nerd Ranch has a strong reputation nationwide as thought leaders helping teams successfully gain the required skills to design and build digital solutions,” projekt202 CEO and co-founder David Lancashire, said in a statement. “As more organizations look to adopt experience-driven methods, we also recognize that Big Nerd Ranch’s expertise in training is needed to help companies truly transform and compete in today’s marketplace.”
Big Nerd Ranch, founded in 2001, has served the greater Atlanta community with coding and other software developing training through bootcamps, books and more. The developer has training bootcamps ranging from Android, iOS, Web UI, Python, React and other systems.

In 2012, BNR merged with Highgroove Studios, a back-end solutions developer for small businesses. A year later, the ranch doubled its headquarters in East Atlanta. Today, the company employs 110 people.
In addition to its newfound presence in Atlanta, projekt202 has offices in Austin, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and Seattle. The company most recently expanded to Asia and employs more than 450 people worldwide.
projekt202, a wholly owned subsidiary of Amdocs, was founded in 2003. The company serves big name brands and Fortune 500 companies, including 7-Eleven, Capital One, Dell, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, Samsung Electronics and The Container Store.
