At NTX Inno’s inaugural popup event, business leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators from across the Metroplex gathered to get some insights on global professional services firm Accenture’s TechVision 2020 report and discuss its potential impact on the local and global tech ecosystem.
The Thursday evening conversation at Venture X’s coworking space in Uptown Dallas centered around the concept of “tech-clash” – the tension between consumer expectations and emerging technology’s potential with business models. The discussion was led by Emily O’Halloran, Accenture’s managing director and digital lead for the Southwest.
“When we did this survey, we broke it down by major city, so it was interesting to look at how did Dallas vary from other different cities,” O’Halloran said at the event.
Here's a look at a few of the tweets from the event.
The report is broken down into four main sections, which touch on everything from human-machine interaction and concepts surrounding product ownership in the digital era, to robotic capabilities and building an innovative DNA into businesses.
O’Halloran said that Dallas executive respondents to the survey Accenture conducted for the report felt the section Robots in the Wild would affect the region more so than the national average. The section looks at human-robotic interactions in uncontrolled environments. However, the respondents in Dallas felt it would not have a significant impact on the service industry more than many other regions of the country. O’Halloran also added that AI was one of the biggest areas executives in North Texas said they would invest in.
“Dallas was pretty comparable to the globe, except in the robot area,” O’Halloran said at the event.
And, of course, like all good events the night kicked off and was ended with drinks, food and networking.
Thanks to everyone who came out. And special thanks to NTX Inno’s founding partners: Accenture, UT Dallas, Thomson Reuters and BDO.
