Every startup needs a space in which to grow, and two local companies are teaming up to help make that happen.
The Dallas Entrepreneur Center (DEC Network) announced it's partnering with North Texas native coworking company Common Desk to combine the two organizations’ reaches.
“This ensures The DEC Network can reach entrepreneurs across Dallas-Fort Worth and helps us serve entrepreneurs throughout North Texas,” said DEC Network CEO Bill Chinn in a prepared statement.
As part of the partnership, the DEC Network will have access to about $30,000 worth of shared office space at Common Desk locations around the Metroplex. In return, the DEC Network has agreed to host at least 20 events in 2020 at the coworking company’s spaces in the region, starting with an enhanced Common Desk presence at the DEC Network’s annual Dallas Startup Week event, which kicks off in April.
According to a released statement, the DEC Network hopes this is a lasting partnership.
The DEC Network was launched by Dallas-based innovation-focused consulting firm InnoCity Partners co-founder and President Trey Bowles in 2013. The nonprofit is focused on helping locally-based entrepreneurs start and grow their business in the region.
In addition to the new partnerships with Common Desk, The DEC Network also works Capital Factory, Paul Quinn College, UNT Dallas and AddisonTreehouse, among others.
“We believe the programming resources that The DEC Network provides will perfectly integrate with our mission to enhance the workdays of the professionals we serve,” said Common Desk founder Nick Clark in a prepared statement.
Clark said the DEC resources will help “enhance” the benefits of Common Desk members, as well as add to its programming and mentorship resources.
The DFW region is host to more than 80 co-working locations. Common Desk announced plans to begin development on the 2001 Ross Ave. location in August 2018, making it the 5th location for the company. The company recently expanded into the Houston market in October 2019.
“This partnership [will create]… the ability to exponentially increase the reach of our mission to help more entrepreneurs across North Texas start, build, and grow their businesses,” said Bowles in a prepared statement.
