A new Dallas-based startup is launching with a bang, announcing its emergence from stealth with a strong funding round.

Worlds, a spatial AI company focused on deep learning and IoT within the 4D environment, which spun out of Dallas- and Austin-based Hypergiant Sensory Sciences, announced landing a $10 million Series A funding round, led by locally-based Align Capital Partners. The round was joined by Chevron Technology Ventures, Piva, and Hypergiant Industries.

"We are creating one of the most powerful manifestations of AI yet, an AI-driven automation platform for physical environments," said Dave Copps, CEO of Worlds and Hypergiant Sensory Sciences, in a prepared statement.

The company is calling its platform the “first-of-its-kind extended reality (XR) environment.” Worlds’ software allows users to create AI-powered models of real-world spaces, allowing them to analyze and learn from their physical surroundings. It hopes that the technology will increase companies efficiency, while also increasing security, productivity and cost reduction.

Worlds currently operates in Energy and Department of Defense spaces, as well as other industries.

Extended reality combines the capabilities of VR, AR and mixed reality to shape the way people interact with media.

“What we are creating has the potential to revolutionize major industries,” said Chris Rohde, COO at Worlds, in a prepared statement.

Worlds was created from Hypergiant Sensory Sciences, which was spun off from its parent company Hypergiant in 2018 in order to create better learning networks through multiple environments.

Hypergiant Sensory Sciences was developed by Copps, Rohde and Ben Lamm.

Lamm is the co-founder of parent company Hypergiant, as well as Conversable (acquired) and Chaotic Moon Studios (acquired). Copps and Rohde founded Brainspace, which was sold in a $2.8 billion deal with Cyxtera in 2017.

"We are creating one of the most powerful manifestations of AI yet."

Hypergiant Sensory Sciences launched with an undisclosed Series A round that was led by Dallas-based Align Capital, Capital Factory and Dallas-based GPG Ventures.

“Our investment in Worlds reflects our belief that digital innovation plays a critical role in accelerating business value," said Barbara Burger, CTV President, in a prepared statement.

While Worlds will operate under Hypergiant Sensory Sciences, its owner will still remain a division of parent company Hypergiant industries, which focuses on AI technology. According to a release, Worlds will prioritize its focus on products designed to integrate human senses with geospatial mapping, acoustic predictive modeling and computer vision, among other things.
