With a new investment and an eye on growth, a Dallas-based senior-focused video startup is looking to help seniors share thoughts and memories with loved ones.

OneDay reported it has closed on a $5.2 million Series A funding round, led by Austin-Based early-stage VC firm Silverton Partners. California-based Spieker Partners and other local firm Green Park and Golf Ventures joined the round. This brings the startup’s total funding to about $6.5 million since its launch in 2012.

OneDay is a SaaS company at heart. Its software provides question-and-answer prompts for seniors living in communities to create videos and content related to their thoughts and memories to be shared with family and the community. The company says it helps senior communities improve resident engagement, improve customer satisfaction and help create branded content for digital marketing.

“We got a really innovative – just 'ready, set, record' video platform – that enables businesses to become storytellers,” Lee told the Dallas Business Journal.

According to CEO Clint Lee, the new investment will largely be put to use in sales and marketing. So far, OneDay has focused its attention on the senior living and healthcare markets. However, Lee told the DBJ that the company is looking to move into “potential tangential markets," although he did not disclose what those were.

“OneDay is poised for global growth. Their ability to impact the world by tapping into the simple, but powerful, human desire to connect makes us excited to be part of their story,” Morgan Flager, general partner for Silverton Partners, said in a prepared statement.

The startup plans to close the year with more than 2,000 community partners across the globe. In addition to expanding into new markets, OneDay also expects to grow its workforce from more than 20 to about 35 within about a year.
