Sara Vassar, Chief Product Officer at MoneyGram, was honored at the Dallas Business Journal's 2023 Women in Technology Awards.
Vassar oversees MoneyGram’s product management and UX departments to bring its digital products to market. This includes product lines for retail agents, consumer direct and business customers.
Vassar told the Dallas Business Journal she always had a passion for technology, which led to her decision to focus her MBA not only on business but also on management information systems.
“Every change in role or career that I’ve done up to this point has been intentional about doing more of the activities that give me energy,” Vassar told the Dallas Business Journal.

2023 Women in Technology
What do you consider your biggest accomplishment over the past year?
My proudest accomplishment has been building my Product and UX team. There’s always work to do in building a strong team, but my focus last year was on restructuring the organization around our customers, bringing in new leadership talent and establishing standards to improve the quality of our work.
What opportunity for your company over the next year has you most excited?
I’m excited about the new product plans we still have coming. Launching MoneyGram Access, a first-of-its-kind global on/off-ramp service for digital wallets to cash in/out of cryptocurrency, was a big win for my team last year. But to me, it just scratches the surface of what is still yet to come.
