Software maker Arcos LLC opted to reduce its office space in the wake of the pandemic, embracing the changes in the way we work wrought by the global crisis.

The firm's new home at 8800 Lyra Dr. in the Polaris area emphasizes collaboration, the element most likely to draw a remote workforce back into the office.

“Our design suggests simplicity, clarity and invention; it’s equally accessible as a center for innovation, executive briefings, or bringing together our customer steering committee to guide our product portfolio,” Arcos CEO Odus “Boogie” Wittenburg said in an emailed statement. “And even though many of our employees have been (and will continue) working remotely, the new HQ is an exciting place to host clients and come together in teams to collaborate and spark the creativity we have.”

Arcos moved into the 7,000-square-foot space in November. It vacated an office nearly twice that size at 445 Hutchinson Ave. in Crosswoods, which had the traditional cubicle layout.

The new space is dominated by various ways to huddle, such as a conference room, couch or diner-style booth. There are some offices with doors, but they aren't designated for specific executives.

About Arcos: Arcos helps utilities and critical infrastructure companies deploy crews and equipment. A recent acquisition added analytics and collaboration software so clients can coordinate those crews on-site. Its revenue, which is not disclosed, has grown on average 22% over the past five years, and the firm has made Columbus Business First's list of the region's fastest-growing private companies 11 times in 14 years.

About the contest: Throughout the month of March, Columbus Inno will run slideshows of local offices, in the hunt for the region's coolest. At the end of the month, we'll hold a vote to determine our winner.
