Turnserv LLC in Twinsburg, Ohio, has topped Northeast Ohio companies on this year's Inc. 5000 list of fast-growing private companies.

This year's Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark, Medina, Wayne and Tuscarawas county subset of the U.S. list dropped one company from 34 last year to 33, according to Inc. magazine. Rankings for the list are determined by percentage growth in revenue from 2020 through 2023.

Thirty of the companies (excluding Keyfactor, Superb Industries and Jarrett Logistics) had median three-year revenue growth of 135%, Inc. magazine reported. That was down from median revenue growth of 153% in 2023's list.

Debuting on the Inc. 5000 list at No. 459, Turnserv is a platform of three B2B brands that provide services, products and software primarily to the multifamily real estate sector. The Twinsburg company led local companies on the annual list with three-year revenue growth of 979%.

Founded by Tyler Dunagin in 2018, Turnserv's brands serve property managers and owners, often when they turn over apartment units:

  • ApartmentPainters.com does turnover, renovation and new construction painting.
  • LiquidLiner.com is a proprietary bathtub and tile refinishing kit that provides an alternative to replacement.
  • ApartmentFlooring.com installs floor coverings.

Turnserv recently received an undisclosed private equity investment from Kaulig Capital, the private investment firm of Kaulig Cos. in Hudson. The Twinsburg company serves the Cleveland, Akron, Youngstown and Columbus markets and has a near-term geographic expansion plan for its brands, according to Kaulig Capital.

At No. 1,182, software company Keyfactor was next on the local list with three-year revenue growth of 434%. Keyfactor, which has ranked on the Inc. 5000 for at least the last five years, is a pioneer of public key infrastructure — digital identities used to establish and manage public key encryption on the Internet.

The Independence-based company merged with PrimeKey of Stockholm in 2021 to create an industry-first machine identity management platform that manages the Internet of Things.

And at No. 1,428, Emerald Group Consultants, the recruiting and business development consultancy based in Cleveland suburb Pepper Pike, was third among local companies on this year's Inc. 5000 list.

Cleveland Kitchen, the Cleveland maker of fresh-fermented foods and salad dressings that has led local companies on the national list for the last three years, was absent from this year's ranking.
