Land Energy, the electric mobility and portable battery manufacturer in Cleveland, has raised another $3 million to help scale production and innovation of its cloud-connected battery system.

Land Energy's Core batteries power the company's electric motorcycle, known as The District. While the company's e-motorcycles generate a lot of buzz, its batteries are at the heart of everything Land Energy does, founder and CEO, Scott Colosimo, told Cleveland Business Journal in 2022.

"Our battery and the software that runs it" are the platform for Land's electric motorcycles, Colosimo said. "Our e-bikes are the first application of our energy platform."

Easy to charge and swappable, Land's Core batteries provide a portable power source on and off the grid, the company said on Tuesday. By plugging the newly developed Power Tap accessory into the electric vehicle, users can charge phones, laptops and household appliances through the USB-C port and standard plug.

"Despite the economic slowdown, Land continues to raise capital to bring all manufacturing under one roof, which allows the team to work efficiently, cost-effectively and ship directly to customers," Colosimo said in a statement. "Now that we are assembling The District in-house, the next big step is to accelerate battery production at Land."

Land closed a $7 million fundraise in September to upgrade its 30,000-square-foot facility in Cleveland's Gordon Square neighborhood and expand its team. The funding enabled Land to make more vehicles in 2023 than in any prior year and start a second production run of The District, which includes the Power Tap technology and onboard charging, the company said.

The efficiencies afforded by the upgrades also enabled the company to lower the price of the e-moto to $6,995, making it one of the most affordable e-motorcycles on the market in 2024, the company said.

"Being able to make electric batteries in-house is a pivotal moment for the team," Evan Painter, head of design for Land, said in a statement.
