My Home Park, the startup that sells kits of native plants for home gardeners, is expanding its mail-order business to 13 more states.

The Chagrin Falls, Ohio-based startup is beginning to ship its native plant gardens — designed to feed wild bees in specific geographic areas — to customers in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, West Virginia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C, Rhode Island, Delaware, New Jersey, Missouri and Kentucky.

My Home Park, founded in 2022 by consumer products entrepreneur David Levine, already ships kits to customers in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and the California Bay Area, the company said Tuesday.

Native plants, which have grown in certain regions for thousands of years, play an important role in providing habitats for pollinators, as well as helping to conserve water and stabilize soil.

My Home Park offers native plant gardens that are selected for specific locations and sustainably grown by partner growers, the company said. The plants are shipped to residential and commercial clients in the form of plugs.

Native plants work best when planted with different species in community gardens, Levine said in a statement.

"We have chosen to sell native plants in the form of fully designed and biodiverse gardens to enhance the overall environmental impact that a customer can make," he said.

After selling his Mr. Beams LED safety lighting product line to Ring (the doorbell security camera company now owned by Amazon), Levine decided to start My Home Park as a "public benefit corporation" rather than start another consumer products company.

A public benefit corporation is a business entity with a dual purpose — making a profit and promoting the public good, according to Nolo.com.

Cleveland Business Journal named My Home Park as one of its 10 Startups to Watch in the Cleveland area in 2023.
