ProMentor, a live mentorship platform for athletes, has acquired TopYa!, a Denver-based youth sports video development platform.

The companies didn’t disclose terms of the transaction.

Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based ProMentor said the acquisition allows it provide the industry’s first comprehensive engagement, development and mentorship experience.

ProMentor said it aims to support coaches and athletes through virtual mentorship and increase youth engagement in sports at a time when young athletes have been leaving organized sports at a younger age. According to a study from the Aspen Institute, four out of 10 kids who played sports before the pandemic now face reduced services from their community and club sports programs.

"TopYa! has engaged tens of thousands of kids around the world with accessible content to learn and practice sports at home. Joining forces with ProMentor and providing access to the most talented athletes on the planet was a clear winning strategy," TopYa! founder Jason Keller said in a statement.

ProMentor offers access to mentorship and development tools from professional athletes for clubs, coaches and individuals. Services include interactions with the professional athletes, including real-time video analysis and annotation to break down individual technique, positioning or even the competition.

"Athletes are gaining the skills and confidence needed to take their game to the next level by tapping into the insight and expertise from the hundreds of professional athletes on the ProMentor platform," said ProMentor CEO Jim Brown. "TopYa! enables ProMentor to streamline the accessibility of mentorship to an entirely new audience.”

Among ProMentor’s mentors is Chris Taylor of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who also is an investor and brand ambassador for the company.
