Two Cleveland-area casinos are moving away from cash and will be moving to utilize a new digital cashless system.

Jack Entertainment said its Thistledown Racino recently installed the first commercial digital wallet implementation in a Northeast Ohio gaming facility. The technology is made by Everi Holdings Inc. (NYSE: EVRI), a Las Vegas digital wallet creator. Jack Entertainment said digital wallet technology will slowly be phased in at both its Thistledown and downtown Jack Cleveland Casino, "as each phase obtains Ohio regulatory approval."

Jack Entertainment said its Mobile Wallet, a cashless mobile wallet system, uses Everi's digital CashClub Wallet technology. The system is expected to launch soon at Jack Cleveland Casino, once it's approved by regulators.

"The next planned phase of implementation, subject to regulatory approval, will include direct funding of game play at the video lottery terminals and slot machines, with additional features to follow, such as food and beverage and retail outlet purchases," the companies said.

"The launch of the mobile solution at Jack Thistledown Racino eliminates the need to handle cash on the casino floor, creating a frictionless experience for the customer and providing patrons with new, flexible options to fund their gaming," said Mark Dunkeson, CEO of Jack Entertainment, in a statement.
