Describe you company and the product you offer. Formed in 2018 from technology developed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Clarigent Health is using artificial intelligence and machine learning to study a person’s language and speech patterns to detect warning signs of suicide ideation or other types of mental illness. With preventive care at the forefront of the company’s mission, this startup aspires to revolutionize how everyone from schools to clinicians handle and treat mental illness.
What makes your product innovative? Currently, there are no other clinically validated objective tools for detection and monitoring of mental health conditions. In typical clinical settings, assessing a person’s risk for suicide falls to social workers, nurses, psychologists or doctors who rely primarily on training and experience. Their conclusions can be subjective because their training and life experiences can vary greatly.
What has been your company’s biggest success to date? Our technology has been shown in multiple clinical trials to be effective in assisting mental health professionals in determining whether a patient is experiencing acute suicide ideation, which would require immediate hospital admittance, or if they should look for other treatment options like therapy or counseling.
