Company description: Abre is an education management platform marketed to K-12 schools, career schools and community colleges.

Who are the team members being recognized? Chris Rose, Brandon Wilson, Cindy Daumeyer, Chris Dam and Mason Cook.

What’s a challenge that your team helped resolve? Many schools rely on community partner organizations to provide services to the students and families in their communities; however, many schools do not have a comprehensive, digital way to manage partner programs and track student’s involvement with and impact of these programs. The Abre team developed a community engagement solution working closely with Cincinnati Public Schools, specifically to meet these unmet needs.

What was innovative about this approach? This solution is currently the only product in the market that unifies in-school learning experiences and out of school enrichment and services to create a safe, secure transaction of data that provides a holistic view of the entire student. Studies show the incredible benefits that partnerships between students and community programs have on student achievement. The team saw an opportunity to build a platform that breaks down barriers to siloed information by integrating with a district’s student information system, providing one location for all stakeholders to monitor goals, track progress and generate important insights.

How does your company recruit and retain tech talent? Abre places a high value on creating an increasingly diverse team. For that reason we utilize a wide range of tools and channels to post positions in order to attract talent from places our own networks wouldn’t necessarily reach. Providing a stimulating environment where testing new ideas and approaches and where staying current with cutting edge development technologies and processes is key to retaining the talent that comes through the door. It doesn’t hurt that our work provides meaningful impact, and we like to have fun, too.
