On May 14, those startups participating in faith-based accelerator OCEAN's fifth cohort will present their work. The occasion? Demo Day at Crossroads Uptown.

The event will celebrate OCEAN's "most diverse class ever," comprised of seven different companies representing five countries; 40 percent have minority founders. They will have come to the end of their work at the five-month-long accelerator, which is specifically focused on three core subjects for its high-tech startups: investor readiness, value proposition design and revenue assumptions.

Before the big day, let's take a look at the startups that will be taking to the stage May 14.

Hale

Hale, formerly Hava, was founded by Josh Israel and Devin Serago, and looks to improve clinical outcomes for patients battling nicotine addiction.

“Hava focused on ending the scourge of nicotine addiction using their propriety vape pen technology,” said OCEAN President Luke Dooley. “They have already raised $500,000 and are in process to do a trial with Rutgers Medical.”

Smart Send

Turkish founders Dogucan and Caner Dure are the brains behind SmartSend, an app-based technology startup that allows users to calculate their shipment’s weight, shipping price and more — all through their phone’s camera, thanks to AR and proprietary AI.

SmartSend ... solves a time consuming and expensive problem,” Dooley said. “Since coming to Cincinnati from Turkey, they have seen major progress with international package carriers.”

Adyptation

Founded by Ryan Jankord and Dave Malseed, Dayton-based Adyptation is a custom health analytics startup that uses a combination of biometric data and AI to “transform personal health data into insightful diagnoses."

GoTRIBE

Karlos Galvan and Chris Hodges founded GoTRIBE, a North Hollywood-based fitness on-demand company. It's mission? To "disrupt employer health insurance premiums and increase employee productivity, engagement, and quality of life.” It does this via online (or in-person!) personal training sessions, catered to the user's fitness level and interest.

Streetcode

The only startup in the cohort with Cincinnati roots, Streetcode is platform for those looking to hire digital talent. Led by founders Mark Tiderman and Jeff Stredney, the company is currently in its beta mode.

Vairt

Founded by Jamil Ahmed, Athar Shah Kan and Neelam Sabeen, Vairt is a Philadelphia-born crowdfunding platform that uses blockchain for real estate purposes; think liquidating, tokenizing and investing. It offers tools like a real estate CRM, website design, vacation rental software and more.
