In this edition of our Office Envy series, we speak with Gary Wright of Cheviot Coworks. Our Q&A below highlights the inspiration behind the space, its ammenities and more. A gallery of the space is included, too.

Editor’s Note: Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

Cincy Inno: What inspired the creation of Cheviot Coworks? When did it get started, and by whom? Wright: I’d been working from home and breweries, and it just wasn’t very productive or cost-effective. There weren’t any coworking offices on the west side of Cincinnati and it gave me an opportunity to get more involved in the local community by getting an office in downtown Cheviot. Cheviot Coworks opened Jan. 2, 2018.

CI: What clientele is it aiming to serve?

Wright: It’s aimed at anyone in the area looking for an affordable place to work. That would mainly be people that work remote from home or coffee shops. But we’ve had others with an office in another part of town and need a satellite office, like a realtor. Sometimes, just a change of scenery or getting out of the house can help you focus on getting work done.

CI: How was CC financed? Boostrapped, invesments to start?

Wright: It’s a family business, all bootstrapped.

CI: What sets CC apart? What amenities and services does it boast?

Wright: We’re probably a little smaller than most coworking spaces — but that makes us more friendly, too. We aren’t spread out across a big space, so we can have conversations when we need a break. We’ve even got a water cooler if you need something to gather around. We have all the usual amenities: high-speed WiFi, printer/scanner/fax, conference room, coffee, kitchenette and free parking.

CI: What goals do you have for the space and membership? Where do you see Cheviot Coworks in a year?

Wright: We’re a small space, so we aren’t shooting for the stars. I’d like to see six to eight total members and enough interest to stay busy without getting too hectic, so people can come to a quiet office and focus on their work. In a year, I hope to have a steady group of coworkers that enjoy the space and the community.
