An insurtech that ranks among the region's best-funded startups is switching up its C-suite.
Coterie, a Blue Ash-based insurtech, announced Tuesday Bobbie Collies as its new chief growth officer. Collies most recently served as the company's vice president of distribution, a role she's held since March 2022.
Collies replaces Coterie co-founder Tim Metzner, who said in a LinkedIn post, "One of the most important roles of a founder is to work yourself out of jobs as the company scales. Bringing on, empowering, and teeing up amazing leaders for success is the only way to make that work."
Metzner will now focus on the company's culture and various leadership development opportunities, according to a news release.
The C-suite change comes roughly five months after Coterie joined startups nationwide in laying off staff members. Ultimately, the startup cut 20% of its overall workforce.
Coterie, founded in 2018 by David McFarland, Metzner and Kevin Mackey, uses tech and data to deliver simpler insurance solutions – owners policies, general liability insurance and professional liability insurance – to small businesses, contractors and gig workers. Agents can quote and issue policies faster via Coterie's portal, and its API integrates into existing platforms like Intuit Quickbooks and Thryv.
The company had a red-hot 2021, raising two rounds of capital, including a $50 million Series B a year ago. Those raises helped buoy Coterie to No. 9 on the Courier's list of best-funded startups.
