A Texas-based startup claimed the top prize in Fintech Frontier's latest pitch competition.

Last week, Sigo Seguros beat out five other finance-related startups to take home a $35,000 cash prize in Fintech Frontier's latest pitch competition as part of StartupCincy Week. The Austin-based startup is an inclusive auto insurance provider focused on serving the Spanish-speaking community.

Cincinnati-based Rente, which uses AI to help landlords inclusively identify and retain profitable tenants, finished second, taking home a $25,000 cash prize. Miami-based KiddieKredit, a financial literacy platform teaching healthy credit practices, won the third-place prize of $15,000.

The pitch competition is part of a broader effort to put Cincinnati on the map as a hub for financial technology startups. The initiative is backed by local heavyweights, including Cintrifuse, Western & Southern Financial and Fifth Third Bank.

Winners were determined by a scoring rubric including judge scores and popular vote amongst the virtual audience.
