One of the region's fastest-growing companies just got bigger, thanks to a new acquisition.

Stack Construction Technologies announced Wednesday its purchase of SmartUse Solutions, which offers its own construction management software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal expands on Stack's existing web-based construction takeoff and estimating software for clients since SmartUse helps streamline document viewing, markups and collaboration within the field as the project is under construction.

"Our mission is ultimately to provide a single source of truth for construction project documents and to connect field workers with critical project data around issues, costs, completion percentages and more," Stack CEO Phil Ogilby said in a statement. "Additionally, the ability to seamlessly synchronize this data between the office and the jobsite will help keep all project stakeholders up to date with real-time documentation and information during construction. SmartUse will be a major contributor in our quest to fulfill this mission."

SmartUse was founded in 2012 and is based in Montreal, Canada. The company will keep its Montreal offices, while Dominic Sevigny, the company's president and COO, will remain with Stack as its director of product marketing.

Stack ranked No. 35 on the Business Courier's annual list of the region's 55 fastest-growing private companies, after experiencing a three-year revenue growth of 72%. The company also ranked No. 181 within the Inc. 5000's Midwest region.
