A fast-growing startup has received thousands of dollars to further its growth, thanks to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
Electrada, which launched in April, was one of several organizations to receive a slice of $3.2 million in funding awarded by the environmental agency. The funding will pay for the installation of 500 electric vehicle charging stations statewide, according to a news release.
Electrada received funding for 15 projects throughout in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Montgomery counties. Combined, the company received roughly $180,000 to install 60 charging stations.
The chart below breaks down where the new chargers will go:
"By teaming with the Ohio EPA DMTF grant program for public charging, Electrada extends its turnkey charging infrastructure investments into new communities across the region this year," CEO Kevin Kushman said in a statement. "With a unique investment model, Electrada eliminates all capital and operational risk for site partners interested in supporting clean mobility while increasing the number of charging ports at each public site."
Electrada, one of Cincy Inno's Startups to Watch, invests and operates electric vehicle charging stations developed by FLO | AddEnergie. Drivers interested in using the stations can do so through the FLO app.
Locally, the company has installed charging stations at iconic locations, including Findlay Market, Golden Lamb Restaurant and Hotel and Cincinnati Art Museum.
The new funding will help fuel the Electrada team's goal of installing more than 300 charging stations this year. The company's overall ambition is to install 3,000 charging stations across the Midwest by 2025.
