A Cincinnati health tech firm is bolstering its leadership team, thanks to a new hire.

Halo Health, previously known as Halo Communications, has hired Julia Goebel as its vice president of marketing, the downtown-based company announced in a release. Goebel joins Halo from Benefitexpress, a Chicago area tech firm that does human resources consulting.

In her new role, Goebel will oversee all of Halo Health's marketing and external communications efforts, the release states.

What started as a HIPAA-compliant texting application has evolved into much more. Halo's suite of offerings allow for instant access to electronic health records, critical and clinical teams, physician on-call schedules, call centers, labs and directories as well as voice-over-internet-protocol calling.

"At Halo Health, our mission is to save lives by improving communication and collaboration in health care, and it starts from within," CEO Jose Barreau said in a statement. "Julia's depth of experience in healthcare marketing and her collaborative style are vital for our next stage of growth."

Earlier this year, Halo hired its first ever chief growth officer. Shortly after, the company rebranded to Halo Health "to better convey its commitment to the health care industry."

The firm ranks among Greater Cincinnati's top 20 best-funded startups, with $20.6 million in capital raised as of July 31, 2020, according to Courier research.
