A Northern Kentucky hub for entrepreneurs is recruiting high school students to showcase their innovative prowess.
Blue North, which spun off from Tri-ED earlier this year, is recruiting 25 high school students from Northern Kentucky to participant in its upcoming Startup Saturday, which will be held virtually next week. The two-day event tasks students with creating new ideas for businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic that are now in need of new marketing ideas and ways to attract and retain clients and customers, according to a news release.
During the evening Nov. 20, students will meet with the small businesses and begin planning their projects. The following day, they'll work on their projects and create pitches to give to a "Shark Tank"-style panel of judges to compete for three prize packs, the release states.
“Startup Saturday is an opportunity for the future entrepreneurs of Northern Kentucky to share their ideas in real, tangible ways that can strengthen local businesses at a time when it is needed most,” Brit Fitzpatrick, Blue North's executive director, said in a statement. “Encouraging, cultivating, and inspiring students through workshops like this helps to ensure our local pipeline of talent continues to develop and shows why our region can compete with any on a national level.”
