While the world waits for a Covid-19 vaccine, countless startups are developing innovative solutions to stop the spread of the virus.

One of these companies is Neu-Tech Energy Solutions, a Terrance Park-based business creating a variety of high-tech, bacteria-killing lights to fight MRSA, Staph, Strep and now Covid-19.

Hospitals have used UV lights for years to cut down on the spread of drug-resistant super bugs and to disinfect surgical suites. But there is now an interest in using it in places like schools, office buildings and restaurants to help reduce Covid-19 transmission.

The lights are also used by firefighters and first responders to keep their work areas free from bacteria and viruses. Firefighters are using them in their vehicles, decontamination rooms, laundry room, bunk room and lounge areas.

Neu-Tech says its blue lights have decontaminating potential since various wavelengths in the blue spectrum are anti-microbial against a wide range of bacteria. The company also says that the lights are safe to be used around both humans and animals, but the strength of the UV lights means no one can be in the room when the lights are operating.

Neu-Tech was founded more than a decade ago and has been developing new LED bacteria-killing lights for more than four years. The company has five employees, according to LinkedIn
