Abre.io, the open-source education software application, has made another big move, debuting education media site Abre Discover.
The site will allow different thought leaders to share diverse insights and perspectives via a blog format, as well as provide tips and tricks to best utilize Abre. And, soon, it will serve as the home of the company's "Open to Learn" podcast.
Abre's vice president of instruction, Zach Vander Veen, will head up content development for the site.
“Most of the content coming from edtech providers is about their technology. We’ll have plenty of that to support customers, but our focus will be on creating a space for educators to hear and be heard," he said. “We’re building a community of passionate educators, parents and learning partners who all share the same goal of student growth. “That is our goal as an education technology company, so it should also be our goal as we create content.”
In addition to being a helpful resource for educators, a catalyst for Abre Discover was a desire to streamline the company's offerings.
“We realized we were developing a lot of different content in a lot of different places,” said Abre CEO Damon Ragusa. “Abre Discover is a consolidation of all the content we are building into one place for our customers and thought-leadership for educators.”
This isn't the first offering for the 2017-born startup, which fittingly means “open” in Spanish; in addition to its software, it boasts Abre Community, a site developed to allow discussion among Abre users and other educators.
