Amify, a startup that helps smaller companies sell their wares on Amazon, announced in March that it was building its second HQ in Cincinnati in an effort to take advantage of Amazon’s forthcoming air hub.
And now, it's made another announcement: Marketing executive Andy Cipra will join the company as its chief marketing officer.
Formerly of Procter & Gamble, Cipra also was vice president of marketing (and eventually interim CMO) at Dish Networks. His most recent work includes Boom Supersonic, an aeronautic and aerospace company, where he was senior vice president.
“I am excited to join Amify to help companies find success on Amazon, an increasingly complex, yet vital, channel for brands in nearly every category,” Cipra said. “Brands must have an Amazon strategy if they want to effectively connect with shoppers, and maximize their marketplace potential. We are focused on being the preferred partner for brands looking to leverage our deep Amazon expertise to drive growth with our unique offering that combines technology, insights and world-class capabilities in a turnkey solution.”
Ethan McAfee, CEO of Amify, expressed excitement at Cipra's appointment.
"Andy's marketing expertise and success as a brand builder map perfectly to our business development goals and ambitious growth strategy," he said. "With his marketing leadership onboard, Amify is well positioned to be the number one Amazon brand partner in the world."
Amify, which also has an HQ in Washington, D.C., raised a $5.8 million Series A round in March. "A longtime participant in the Cincinnati startup ecosystem," Houston-based Mercury Fund, led the round, with additional participation by CincyTech.
As for coming to Cincy, McAfee said: “Much like Amazon, we were looking for a second headquarters and Cincinnati kept popping up. Cincinnati’s a great branding and marketing town, and that’s something we need to help our brands.”
