The U.S. News and World Report has debuted its list of the 125 Best Places to Live in the U.S., and Cincinnati has scored No. 39. It’s ranking beat cities like Chicago, Philadelphia and Los Angeles, and it had the highest showing of all ranking Ohio-based metros.
Austin, Texas took the No. 1 spot, followed by Denver, Colo. The other Ohio cities making the list include Columbus (No. 51), Dayton (No. 69), Cleveland (No. 85), Toledo (No. 94) and Youngstown (No. 97).
“U.S. News analyzed the 125 most populous metro areas to find the best places to live,” the publication said regarding its methodology. “To make the top of the list, a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life.”
Specifically, U.S. News & World Report analyzed elements of each metro, such as the job market, net migration and quality of life.
In terms of Cincinnati, it scored highest in value (7) and job market (6.6), coming in with an overall ranking of 6.7.
“Families are drawn to Cincinnati for its excellent public and private schools, and its large number of Montessori schools," wrote U.S. News & World Report-appointed local expert, Jessica Esemplare. "Plus, Fortune 500 companies bring in national and international talent."
