A Cincinnati suburb will soon have a fleet.
Of bikes, that is. Tomorrow, Blue Ash will officially host a bike-sharing platform, thanks to a partnership with the Boston and San Francisco-based company Zagster Inc. This will crown Blue Ash as the first of Queen City 'burbs to debut such a program.
Eight stations, or "bike centers," throughout the city will host 50 bikes, which interested riders can rent for a single ride ($1 per 30 minutes, with a $20 maximum) or via a tiered membership. To do so, customers must download the free Zagster app on their mobile device, allowing them to pay for and reserve a vehicle.
“The City of Blue Ash is a connected community with many walking and biking paths," Blue Ash Assistant City Manager Kelly Harrington said in a statement to The Enquirer. "Bike share programs are becoming increasingly popular as people look for alternative methods of transportation, and we are excited to offer this new and fun option to the public."
The news comes as scooter- and bike-sharing programs are on the rise in cities across the country, with places like San Francisco deliberating how to best regulate the inundation.
In fact, Bloomberg reports that municipal governments and riders aren't the only ones paying attention; personal injury lawyers are, too.
