It’s been no secret that we were hosting an event at Union Hall on April 18.

Dubbed the State of Innovation: HR/Talent Inno, the Cincy Inno team converged in the Beer Hall with a host of our readers to talk all things leadership, retaining talent, attracting the right employees, work/life balance and more.

We kicked off the night with a keynote from Chris Powell, CEO of Talmetrix, who discussed how a company’s people are those who can help set it apart from competitors in a major way.

After a brief Q&A with Powell, I had the pleasure of moderating a panel of local thought leaders. Sherry Sims, founder and CEO of the Black Career Women’s Network; Summer Crenshaw, COO of tilr Corporation; Blake Smith, co-founder and CEO of Cladwell; and Timothy Warren, president and CEO of Helium SEO took to the stage to answer some questions I had, including, “What are some of the HR assets Cincinnati’s ecosystem has?” and, “What makes a good boss, and what makes a good employee?”

I’m still thinking about some of their answers, especially the idea of full integration and the thought that maybe chasing a perfectly separate work/life balance is just as exhausting as having no boundaries at all.

All in all, it was a wonderful evening of learning, food and drink and meeting you, our readers. To Union Hall, our panelists, our keynote speaker and those who came out, thank you! To those bummed you couldn’t make it, worry not; we’ll be back in July. See you then!
