The University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for its Diversity and Inclusion Technology Internship, a program that looks to connect students from Ohio or who are attending an Ohio institution with either early-stage tech companies or established institutions that have technological needs.

Interested associate through doctoral-level students from all disciplines, with either a "STEM, business marketing and creative arts" focus, are encouraged to apply. While the program is open to all, particular note will go toward minority and underserved populations.

For applicants, "an entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to learn are key!"

The program's duration is three to six months, with opportunities for both full- and part-time internships.

Businesses are also eligible to apply as "host-companies" for the interns, with the stipulation that they are Ohio-based and have an early-stage tech focus or have specific tech needs. They must also indicate how they can provide a "meaningful entrepreneurial experience" for participating students.

Additionally, the Ohio Development Services Agency will reimburse up to $10,000 per internship. "For example, if an intern works full-time over June-August s/he will be paid at least $7,800, with ODSA reimbursing $5,200," a UC press release states.

“Through this program, the state has created an affordable way to engage bright students in internships and coops with promising tech ventures throughout Ohio," Thomas Dalziel, executive director at the Center for Entrepreneurship & Commercialization, told Cincy Inno. "We encourage startups and early stage ventures throughout our region to take full advantage of this opportunity to access UC student talent!”

Student applications close April 23, and business applications close April 30. Accepted participants will be notified on a rolling schedule.

This is the internship's innagural year.
