Foxtrot is opening a convenience store at the Tribune Tower in Chicago.

Foxtrot said Tuesday it has signed a lease at the Tribune Tower along Michigan Avenue where it will open a corner store and café. The 1,739-square-foot space, housed within The Shops at Tribune Tower, will serve as a flagship retail location for the Chicago startup. The store will include a café with patio seating near Pioneer Court, along with its collection of grab and go items, snacks, beer and wine.

The new location comes after Foxtrot raised $42 million in funding this year from celebrity chef David Chang, Sweetgreen co-founder Nicolas Jammet, Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund and others.

Foxtrot currently operates 15 corner stores, including 10 in Chicago. In June, the startup announced plans to add 50 stores throughout the country, with locations coming to New York City, Austin, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, Houston and other cities. Founded in 2013 as an online-only food and alcohol delivery service, Foxtrot has doubled down on physical retail over the years, providing shoppers with an upscale alternative to their traditional corner stores. The startup offers 30-minute delivery via the Foxtrot App.

The new shop at Tribune Tower is expected to open in spring 2022.

Previously home to the Chicago Tribune, Tribune Tower now houses luxury condos and 50,000 square feet of retail space called The Shops at Tribune Tower. Foxtrot’s store is directly adjacent to Museum of Ice Cream, which will open in the spring
