A Chicago telehealth startup is pivoting to incorporate its tech into how businesses manage sick employees, and reopen and conduct business safely during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Justmiine, founded in 2018 in Naperville, is a HIPAA-compliant software company that aims to improve the cost-effectiveness and outcomes for healthcare patients by using teleconferencing. Justmiine allows physicians to communicate with and provide care for patients through messaging and video chats, said justmiine founder and CEO Luciano Fochesatto, a practicing physician.

“I saw the opportunity of improving patient care by using technology and facilitating the connection between doctors, healthcare institutions and patients,” he said.

Justmiine primarily sells its software to small private practices, which then enroll their patients in the platform. Fochesatto said the platform can be used to monitor and treat a variety of conditions, including kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes and mental health conditions.

“The platform can be very flexible,” Fochesatto added.

When the pandemic hit the U.S. in March, justmiine began working on a new platform called miinehealth, which is specifically made for businesses. Fochesatto said miinehealth helps organizations keep track of employees’ symptoms and determine whether they should come into the workplace, stay home or seek medical attention. The platform can be used by a multitude of workplaces, whether it's an office, a restaurant or healthcare facility.

“We give employers a very simple way to manage their workforce, knowing who is in quarantine and what point in time in quarantine they’re at so they can predict their staff a week from now,” Fochesatto said.

Employees document their temperature and any Covid-19 symptoms during a daily health check-in on the miinehealth mobile app. If employees appear healthy, they can come into work. If they have a high temperature or are experiencing symptoms, they are advised to stay home and in some cases, seek out a Covid-19 test.

“You need to be able to engage with employees on a daily basis,” Fochesatto said.

The platform also integrates with businesses' security systems and employee lists so that employers can manage which employees are approved to enter facilities and can provide quick contact tracing if infections emerge.

Justmiine, which has been bootstrapped to date, currently employs 12 people. Fochesatto wouldn’t disclose any specific clients, but said that it has been onboarding two to three clients a week since it pivoted to offering miinehealth.

“We realized we had this very robust platform and that we could adjust the platform,” Fochesatto said. “The Covid pandemic changed the whole conversation.”
