A Chicago-area company was on the most recent episode of Shark Tank last week in search of a deal to grow its business that's all about giving kids more ways to play with slime.

Seriously Slime, an Evanston-based company that makes custom slime kits and hosts slime parties for kids in retail locations, appeared on ABC's Shark Tank on Friday. The company was seeking a $90,000 investment for 15% of the company.

Founders Shannon Valko and Sarah McDermott pitched their business as an "experiential" element to the popular slime trend among children---providing not only slime, but places for families to host cleanup-free parties at the company's brick-and-mortar locations in Evanston at Northbrook. (Its retail stores are currently closed during the ongoing COVID-19 stay-at-home order.)

The young business wasn't able to impress the Sharks with just $28,000 in sales to date, and ultimately left the tank without receiving any offers.

However, the Sharks did give the company high marks for its slime carrier pouch, which is used to transport slime and create less of a mess. Seriously Slime is currently running a Kickstarter campaign for the plush container, which it calls the Slime Baby.

Seriously Slime is just the latest local company to appear on Shark Tank. Others include student loan repayment app ChangEd, men's cleaning product Dude Wipes, lighting device LuminAID, and home rental startup Rent Like a Champion.
