On-Demand Dry Cleaning Startup DRYV Will Take Your Unwanted Clothes to the Salvation Army

For the next week, Chicagoans can get their laundry done and donate clothes to the Salvation Army all without leaving the house.

Chicago-based on-deamnd dry cleaning startup DRYV announced that it is helping users give back this holiday season by handling second-hand clothing delivery free of charge. DRYV customers who pay for laundry or dry cleaning using its iOS app, Android app, or website between now and November 26 can give their unwanted clothes to DRYV to take to the Salvation Army. Each person who donates will get a Rockit Ranch gift card good for $10 at Rockit Bar & Grill, Rockit Burger Bar, Sunda, Ay Chiwowa, or Bottlefork.

The person who donates the largest amount of clothing will receive a $100 Rockit Ranch gift card.

Here's how it works:

  • Open DRYV and create a new order
  • Select a pickup anytime between today and Wednesday, November 26th
  • In the “Special Instructions” section enter “#ClothingDRYV”
  • Have your dry cleaning/laundry separated from your clothing donations

Users must place a minimum order of $20, DRYV said. The recipient of the $100 gift card will be notified on Wednesday.

DRYV launched in 2013 and raised $450,000 in August. Users sign up for the service by linking their credit cards to their account, and DRYV will pick up the laundry within an hour of placing the order. It will deliver the clean laundry to your house the next day at a time of your choosing. Dry cleaning costs anywhere from $4 for a shirt to $30 for a comforter, and laundry is $17.50 for the first 10 pounds. A text message is sent when it's ready and a receipt is sent to the user's inbox.
