A Chicago news radio app that lets you control how you consume news is bringing its technology to luxury automobiles.
Rivet Radio, a 22-hour a day news company that produces business, tech, politics and other audio stories, will be in all Jaguar F-type and XE sedans this October and in all Jaguar Land Rover Automobiles in 2015. The partnership between HearHere Radio Inc., Rivet's parent company, and Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC is being announced Friday at the Paris Motor Show.
Rivet Radio's stories range from 30 to 90 seconds and can be paused, fast forwarded or rewound. The company raised a $1.7 million round in August from investors like the Associated Press.
Chicago Inno reported back in June that the company was eyeing the infotainment units in cars as its next big move.
“Rivet News Radio is intelligent content discovery. We bring smart, bite-sized information to listeners, and give listeners more access to headlines on-the-go,” John MacLeod, CEO of HearHere Radio, said in a statement. “From the start, we designed Rivet with drivers in mind, ensuring simple integration of our listeners’ personal newstreams with hands-free infotainment units.”
The deal between JLR and Rivet is supported by tier-one system engineer Robert Bosch of Bosch Automotive Technology, the company added.
“Rivet was designed for the car and delivers an exceptional radio news experience,” said Sharjeel Noor Sr., Director of Business and Corporate development for Robert Bosch. “Rivet’s engaging and innovative coverage is perfectly suited for JLR drivers and passengers.”
Rivet Radio partners with news companies like the Associated Press to produce content, which Jaguar Land Rover drivers can seamlessly hear when they preload the app on their iPhone or Android.
