Meet the Startups Sure to Impress at University of Chicago's Demo Day

The University of Chicago Polsky Center Accelerator Program Demo Day kicks off this afternoon, and we'll have a few posts coming later from some of the presentations. Startups born out of UChicago tend not to disappoint, so we're excited to see what's in store for demo day.

To get you prepped for the event, here are the university bios of the 10 companies presenting their startups in front of other entrepreneurs, mentors, speakers and investors:

1. All Rise is an all in one, smartphone based courtroom companion for litigators, providing them with access to judge information, standing orders and a unique courtroom ticker.

2. Anonymonkey provides a safe platform where young adults can express their opinions and emotions freely and without judgment through anonymous posts while still maintaining the relevancy and campus community that are not supported on existing anonymous platforms.

3. Credence matches people to jobs by leveraging advanced statistics and big data to accurately determine personality, skills, and suitability for a given task far more effectively than traditional application processes. Credence won $15,000 earlier this year at the UChicago New Venture Challenge.

4. HighStride is a scalable web and mobile app that provides personalized training to ensure that a runner safely and successfully makes it to her finish line.

5. Janus Choice is a mobile technology to optimize and improve current hospital discharge processes. It works to reduce health care costs and 30-day readmission rates and promote patients’ choice and satisfaction by providing patients with better transitional care.

6. Lumii Health helps small businesses save time and money on employee health insurance by meeting with businesses, analyzing their unique situation and providing a plan of recommendations tailored to their needs.

7. Norm’s Farms makes farm-fresh elderberry produces designed to boost immune function.

8. Sensei is an education-based social enterprise that aims to provide low-income students access to high-quality standardized test preparation.  It is a website full of organized and engaging videos and prep content, covering - for starters - all sections of the ACT.  The vision is to build the KhanAcademy.org of test preparation.

9. SmartLine is a mobile waitlist management solution that replaces the traditional pen/paper and buzzer system. The application allows restaurants to better organize their walk-in guests while providing customers a way to join the line remotely and receive alerts via SMS text or in-app notifications.

10. OpenShelf is an online platform that enables general consumers to order rentals and have them delivered to and picked up from their home.
