Have you ever gone to a Cubs game and wanted to check-in online to let you're friends know you were there, but you maybe didn't want all your friends to know? An app designed and developed by Chicago mobile UX / UI firm ÄKTA may have your solution.
Whoozat Wrigley, which hit the App Store in June, lets you know who of your friends is at Wrigley Field--and lets you tell them without broadcasting it to the world. The app uses an invitation and acceptance opt-in to automatically let your friends in the app know when you've entered the ballpark.
The app lets you chat with friends--either as a group or one at a tine--and you can even talk to friends who use the app but aren't at the game to encourage them to head over to Wrigley.
And with Wrigley's attendance problems lately, you probably won't have trouble scoring a last-minute ticket.
Whoozat Wrigley, designed by ÄKTA for client Curt Conklin, CEO of Whoozat, also shows you your "fan statistics" by calculating how the Cubs perform during the games you attend. You can also earn "patches" to verify to your friends that you were actually at a perfect game. But with the Cubs' luck, they'll probably be on the losing end of that.
I could see this app being helpful in a couple ways. First, if you're a season ticket holder, and you know several other Wrigley regulars, this might be a fun app. It's more engaging than a group text and it shows you when your friends arrive and leave. Second, the fan stats feature is pretty cool. I've always wondered if I'm bringing more good luck or bad luck when I head to a ball game.
For the average fan who attends a game or two a year, this app won't do you much good. But for the plugged-in super fans, this might be an app worth downloading.
