Chicago Startup Symbiosis Health, the 'Expedia for Healthcare,' Expands to New York

A Chicago startup that functions as a search engine to compare prices on medical services announced today that it is expanding  to New York.

Symbiosis Health, described as the "Expedia of healthcare," is an online marketplace for medical services and allows shoppers to find the lowest prices, schedule appointments, and pre-pay for services like radiology imaging and lab panels. The company, which is a graduate of healthcare accelerator Blueprint Health in New York, said the move was the logical next step in expanding its footprint nationwide.

"...we have deep ties with New York City so that was the obvious choice to launch after Chicago," Piyush Kedia, CEO Symbiosis Health said in a release. "Due to the growth of consumer driven health plans, there is increasing demand for tools that help consumers take control of their medical expenses."

Symbiosis Health works by allowing users to pick their doctor by comparing prices of medical services. The platform then allows the patient to choose an appointment time pay for the services online.
